About Monstrum Dei

Monstrum Dei began as a solo project during the COVID-19 pandemic. What started with a few riffs gradually evolved into the first song, and the songwriting continued over the following years. At times, the project was overshadowed by other musical endeavors, but the idea was always there, developing quietly in the background.

From the very beginning, the vision was to create a concept album in the spirit of artists such as King Diamond. I have always been fascinated by the challenge of creating an entire album that functions as one cohesive story, where the music, lyrics, and narrative are deeply interconnected.

Writing an album in this way is very different from the conventional songwriting process. Every song needs to exist before the final narrative can take shape. The track order has to be established first, allowing the lyrics and storyline to be written around the complete musical journey.

In 2025, the decision was made to finally complete and record all of the musical ideas that had accumulated over the years and turn them into a full-length album. The summer and autumn of 2025 were dedicated to bringing the project to life. After several years of development, the album was finally completed and is now ready to be presented.

All bass, guitar, and vocal performances were handled by Monstrum Dei. The programmed drums were replaced with live performances by a hired session drummer, while additional guitar solos were performed by a guest musician.

The long-term ambition is to transform Monstrum Dei from a studio project into a full band capable of bringing the album to life on stage.

Everything surrounding Monstrum Dei has been completely DIY and independently funded. There is no record label, management company, or outside investor behind the project. Every aspect has been financed and developed independently.

The Concept Behind the Debut Album

This debut album is a descent into silence, faith, and corruption.

A reflection of what hides behind sacred walls — where power is abused, voices are silenced, and innocence is forgotten.

This is not a story about faith. This is a story about betrayal.

Monstrum Dei exposes the darkness within institutions once thought untouchable. Not to shock, but to confront. Not to preach, but to question what lies beneath the surface.

The light was never pure. We are here to remind you.
